In an era defined by division and global confrontation, photography's power to transcend boundaries has never been more essential. Welcome to the inaugural exhibition of the BarTur Photo Award at the North Fork Arts Center, showcasing photographers from 23 countries.
Join us on Saturday, June 14 from 3-4pm for an artist talkback featuring Kate Bubacz, Head of Visuals at Rest of World, James Wellford, Senior Photo Editor for Global Issues at National Geographic Magazine, and Amnon Bar-Tur, founder of the BarTur Award, photographer, curator, and entrepreneur. The discussion will be accompanied by digital projections, followed by a wine and charcuterie reception from 4-5:30pm.
This exhibition represents a convergence of diverse perspectives, each contributing to a rich tapestry of human experience. In Greenport's intimate theater setting, we witness how photography's universal language connects disparate worlds and illuminates our shared humanity.
The BarTur Photo Award exists not simply to identify exceptional talent but to nurture it – providing recognition and tangible support to photographers at crucial stages in their artistic development. This exhibition continues that tradition, offering a platform where emerging voices reach new audiences and established photographers present innovative work.
