A Season of Arts and Connection at the North Fork Arts Center: May–June 2026
This spring was full of exciting events at the North Fork Arts Center. During May and June, we welcomed the community through film premieres, live performances, art exhibits, music, and dance. Each event gave people a chance to experience something different while bringing the community together through the arts.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 Premiere
The premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 was one of the biggest movie events of the season. Guests enjoyed themed decorations, photo opportunities, and an exciting atmosphere before the film. The event turned a regular movie screening into a special night out and brought together longtime supporters and first-time visitors to celebrate the release.
Ribbon Cutting & Reopening Celebration
After many weeks of renovations, the North Fork Arts Center reopened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Community members, local officials, donors, and supporters gathered to celebrate the improvements, which included a new elevator, upgraded HVAC system, accessible seating, renovated spaces, and a beautiful Steinway Model B piano. The celebration marked an important step in making the Arts Center more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
Brooklyn Ballet Residency
Brooklyn Ballet returned to the North Fork Arts Center for its third annual residency. The company performed Soft Power, a production that mixed ballet with street dance in a unique and creative way. Audience members also had the chance to hear from the artists during a talkback after the performance, making the experience even more meaningful. The residency gave the community an opportunity to experience professional dance close to home.
Small Works Exhibition
The Small Works exhibition featured artwork from talented local and regional artists. The exhibit included a variety of styles and mediums, visitors explored different forms of creativity. It also gave artists a chance to share their work with the community and helped make visual art more accessible to everyone who visited the gallery.
Yale School of Music & BarTur Photo Award
The North Fork Arts Center hosted a special event in partnership with the Yale School of Music and the BarTur Photo Award. The program combined photography and live music to explore themes about nature and the environment. It offered audiences a unique experience by bringing together different forms of art in one event and encouraged people to think about the world in new ways.
Pages from the Diary of an Ex-Slave
To celebrate Juneteenth, actress Jo-Ann Wilson performed Pages from the Diary of an Ex-Slave. Through storytelling and historical reenactment, she shared powerful stories that helped audiences better understand the experiences of enslaved people in America. The performance sparked meaningful conversations and reminded everyone of the importance of remembering history.
Bruce Wolosoff Piano Concert
The Arts Center also celebrated its new Steinway B piano with a concert by composer and pianist Bruce Wolosoff. His performance featured a mix of classical, jazz, blues, and modern music, showing the versatility of the new instrument. It was a memorable evening that introduced audiences to both an incredible musician and an exciting new addition to the Arts Center.
Looking back on May and June, these events showed how the North Fork Arts Center continues to bring people together through creativity and community. Whether visitors came for a movie, a concert, a dance performance, or an art exhibit, each event helped create new experiences and strengthened the connection between the Arts Center and the community it serves.
