Film, Community, and Connection w OLA

On a memorable October evening at the North Fork Arts Center, our community came together for something truly special, a collaborative event with OLA of Eastern Long Island that brought the power of cinema and conversation under one roof.
The night began at 6 PM with a warm reception featuring homemade food that set the tone for the evening ahead. Staff photographer, Rob Lehmann, beautifully captured the welcoming atmosphere as guests mingled, shared stories, and connected over a shared meal before the screening.
At 7 PM, we gathered to watch Queens / Reinas, a Sundance-selected spanish language film that transported us to Lima during the turbulent summer of 1992. Through the eyes of three women—Lucía, Aurora, and their mother Elena—we witnessed a poignant story of family, departure, and the complex emotions that come with leaving one's homeland. The film's fast-paced, visually rich storytelling captured both the spirit of the 1990s and timeless themes of love, loss, and the search for new beginnings.
We're grateful to have been able to donate 100% of proceeds from this event support OLA of Eastern Long Island's vital work uplifting our Latino community through arts, advocacy, and access. Events like these remind us of the power of collaboration and the impact we can make when we come together around shared values and stories.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Rob Lehmann for capturing the spirit of the evening, and to OLA for their partnership in creating this unforgettable night of film, food, and meaningful conversation.
