Drop Dead City at NFAC
On July 31, NFAC hosted a nearly sold-out screening of Drop Dead City - a gripping documentary that took us deep into New York City’s past, illuminating a moment in history that still reverberates today.
Director Michael Rohatyn joined us for a post-film talkback with NFAC Founder Tony Spiridakis, making the night as thought-provoking as it was entertaining. The conversation brought new insight to the film’s story, with one guest calling it “engaging and relevant to now” and another noting it was “a rare chance to see this film out here.”
For some, the subject struck a personal chord. “I worked in NYC government—loved seeing the cast that saved the City,” one attendee shared. Others discovered NY history they had “forgotten all about.” And for first-time visitors, the newly restored theater itself was part of the magic, drawing praise for its beauty and for bringing high-caliber programming back to the North Fork.
Events like Drop Dead City embody what we strive for at NFAC: to bring important stories to our community and create space for reflection, conversation, and connection.
We’re grateful to Michael Rohatyn for sharing his film and insights with us, and to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable evening.
Take a look at the photos from that night taken by our staff photographer, Rob Lehmann, and stay tuned for the next event that will bring us together in the same way.
