A Midsummer Serenade
On a warm summer night, the North Fork Arts Center was filled with music, laughter, and stories as four world-class musicians—flutist Helen Campo, violinist Robert Chausow, violist Sarah Adams, and cellist Daniel Miller—took the stage for our Midsummer Serenade. The program moved seamlessly from Mozart’s elegant Quartet in D for Flute and Strings to Beethoven’s fiery String Trio in G and spirited Serenade in D, with Kodály’s Hungarian-flavored Intermezzo as a lively centerpiece.
What made the evening so memorable was not only the beauty of the music but also the way the artists spoke about it, sharing colorful anecdotes and descriptions that had the audience smiling between movements. Helen’s flute tone – once praised by Leonard Bernstein himself – sparkled in dialogue with Bob’s seasoned violin, Sarah’s soulful viola, and Daniel’s rich cello. Together they created a sound that was both refined and full of life.

Audience members raved afterward: “The musicians were exceptional.” and “The music was first-rate. My friends from upstate were so impressed.” Another summed it up simply: “Loved the choice of music, the enthusiasm of the musicians and audience.”
By evening’s end, it was clear this Serenade was more than a concert. It was a midsummer celebration of connection, artistry, and joy. We look forward to bringing more inspiring classical performances to our stage in the seasons ahead.
